I am currently attending the University of Ottawa as a first year student. The program I am enrolled in is Commerce, option finance, at the Telfer School of Management. I enjoy snowboarding, soccer, playing the piano, and watching movies in my leisure time. I have a lot of respect for great movie directors and feel that they should be acknowledged for their work, specifically, Quentin Tarantino.
Quentin Tarantino: A director to remember
Having to pick a favorite movie director ever has always been easy for me. In my opinion, no one else makes movies as entertaining to watch as Tarantino does. It is for this reason that I have donated my webpage to him. Fans of Tarantino are invited to come to this webpage to read and discuss all about him and his work.
Quentin Tarantino
Biography
Born March 27, 1963, Quentin Jerome Tarantino is an american movie director, producer, screenwriter, cinematographer and actor. Raised by only his mother in Torrance, California, he turned a keen eye towards drama class and even dropped out of school at the age of 15 to attend a full time acting class. As he grew up, he loved to watch films and observe which ones people wanted to rent, giving himself his own unique film education.
"When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, 'no, I went to films" -Tarantino
In 1992, Quentin achieves fame with his first big hit, Resevoir Dogs, which is a heist movie that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. This great success open a number of doors for him as he was approached by Hollywood and offered a position in a few new upcoming film projects, including Speed and Men in Black, all of which he refused. Instead of diving right into the whole Hollywood ordeal, he took refuge from it in Amsterdam and wrote what would soon become one of the greatest films of all time, Pulp Fiction (1994). He went on to write, direct and produce more films that grossed hundreds of millions of dollars such as, Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2 (2003-2004), Death Proof (2007) and Inglourious Basterds (2009).
Tarantino has done a lot of collaborative work with other directors, notably Robert Rodriguez. Death Proof was actually released theatrically as a double feature with Robert Rodriguez's film Planet Terror (2007). Rodriguez has even invited him to be a guest director while filming the movie Sin City (2005) with Frank Miller. His generosity and insight are definitely apparent since, as well as helping direct others' movies, he takes an interest in producing foreign films to give them the attention that they might not have received otherwise. Movies like Iron Monkey (1993) from China and Protector (2006) from Thailand have benefited greatly with the help of Tarantino.
